I've been wondering if that symbol on the forehead has any particular meaning. Do you know if it does? Or is it simply an aesthetic symbol that has come to represent the Monkey King when it comes to opera makeup?

If I did it I'd use gold for the eyes because monkey king has golden eyes after being nearly burned in the alchemists cauldron in heaven

totally making this for a twist on my dia de los muertos project! thanks alot. im adding battery powered lights in mine. :) great tutorial! and super cheap! i love it. May even add a coat of glitter paint on the antlers just for pizzazz ;p

I saw the picture and I was like "That's interesting. Someone does do Lili Elbe makeup" I then realized it was a video and was really stunned and in awe seeing how amazing your work was and how gob smacking your final look is!

How did you make them glow?

I give you kudos for learning the principles of flat moulds!! You gave it a go and it was not a bad attempt at all. I would focus on your blending edges with regard to your sculpture . They need to transition more smoothly to the board you are sculpting onto. the cap plastic alone wont give you an invisible edge, its the edge of your sculpt itself that counts. I would also focus on your pigmentation of the piece itself. Its better to bring the piece as close to your own skin tone or on the money.Either way it can be adjusted with some light washes to tweak it. Its better to have everything on the face a uniform colour so that you have an even canvass on which to paint on. You ended up having to go too thick with the alcohol colours and thus the make up looked more opaque and cakey. If i were you i'd watch Stuart Brays zombie make up demo in the video section of the Creative Media Skills page on facebook. You will see what i mean by the painting and pigmenting of your pieces.
